I understand my mind more from working in the studio

Because its the best music session I’ve done.

I get to record my own music and listen back to it, whereas other music sessions you just listen to other people’s music.

Making music keeps me out of trouble because it keeps me focused.

I don’t know why making music does this, it just happens. Maybe it’s because I find it exciting to make music, whether it’s working on my own tracks or helping out the other guys on theirs. I find working on my lyrics gives me the chance to say things I wouldn’t get to otherwise.

One of the tracks I have done is about how I want to make up with my family, I don’t get to see them much so hopefully they will hear the song!

I have a track called ‘Sobell' which is about bullying, me bullying people. However, through doing the track I discovered that I think I bully people for the attention of staff and I now understand that isn’t fair on other Service Users. Everyone has more fun when we play together instead of me trying to take all the attention for myself.

I have another track called ‘Home’ which is about what Home means to me now I don’t live with my mum. I understand Home should be a place I can be myself and relax how I want and I want my new home to be this.

Since I have been coming into the studio I feel calmer so I am kicking off much less.

I have a song called ‘Punching Walls’ which is me expressing that negative energy and behaviour. It was much better putting it into a song than actually punching a wall because I cleared the negativity out of me instead of getting upset about behaving badly. I got it out instead of it looping round my head.

I also spend more time with the guys from Complex Needs because I can help them make music which is could because I can understand them better than the staff.

I feel making music keeps me out of trouble, which is good.

Making music makes me feel good about myself because I am good at making music.

I feel like a music producer and rapper and I have always wanted to do this. I have been fighting to be a real rapper. I even rap at home now because they have a microphone.

I also feel like I understand my mind more from working in the studio, like I need to stay focused to stop myself kicking out.

I also feel more confident with the music that I make because I’m getting better at it.

I want to put my music on a CD so I can play it to the people in my house and I can listen to it myself.

I want everybody in my life to hear my music.
